Theme issues

The Journal of ISAKOS is excited to announce the introduction of “Theme Issues,” dedicated to specific hot topics in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. These special issues will feature a variety of topic-focused groups of articles and will be contributed to by clinical ISAKOS Committees. Members of ISAKOS scientific committees, experts in their field, will provide high-impact content with a global perspective, regional differences, and future perspectives.
These special issues will provide clinically relevant content for best practice to our growing community of readers and ISAKOS members. The goal is for each issue to be informative, with readers able to stay updated on a specific topic by reading just 3–5 articles. Ideally, a Theme issue will include a State-of-the-Art article, one or two systematic reviews and/or a current concept review, a surgical technique video, a case report, and a classic piece. This format combines scientific information (systematic review), an overview on the topic by world experts including regional differences and future directions (SOTA), illustrative examples (case report), practical information (surgical technique), and historical context (the Classic). As the special issues are online-only, authors can contribute over a 6-to-12-month time period and their articles will continue to be added to the virtual special issue website on an ongoing basis until the Guest Editor confirms the special issue is completed. This is a benefit for authors, as their special issue manuscripts can be published quickly and are not held up for a late manuscript submission.
To learn more about special issues and how to propose a topic or contribute to a special issue from an ISAKOS committee, visit https://www.elsevier.com/authors/submit-your-paper/special-issues and email c.niekvandijk@jisakos.com. The first Theme issue, on Anatomic ACL Reconstruction, is composed by the ISAKOS Knee Preservation Committee and guest edited by the Committee Chair, Sachin Ramchandra Tapasvi, MBBS, MS, DNB, FRCS. It contains a variety of articles that nicely cover the topic. I am convinced you will enjoy reading them.
